THE SHORE GROUP STORY
The Shore Group was created in 2008, by co-founders Lewis Yorke-Johnson and James Hobden who shared a vision of innovating recruitment and project resourcing for the construction sector. Opening the first office in London, eventually returning to their routes in Brighton and Hove, and expanding across the country, with 10 offices nationwide.
The recession hit the country in 2008, and after 63 quarters of expansion, the UK economy got smaller for five quarters in a row...bringing challenges for the early days of The Shore Group. Unemployment reached its highest rate since 1995, which created overwhelming pressure on existing resourcing businesses, with only the most determined surviving.
Within the five years that the UK took to recover, The Shore Group’s values grew in importance offering a better way of resourcing, listening and answering the problems faced by candidates, clients and the wider community. Every step of the way looking outwards rather than inwards through innovation and building strong relationships within the industry.
The Shore Group is now a £200m turnover company, with over 470 employees, 250 strategic accounts and at peak 3,400 operatives on-site. Staying true to original values, our ambitious 2030 CSR strategy which aligns with the UN Development goals is core to our business plan.
We’ve also established partnership deals with AMEX to settle payroll or project fees and premium PPE pay plans with Snickers and total project cost control with The Portal system are just a few of the many developments benefiting the candidates, clients and the communities we work with.
